Week 3 - Doing boring, but important stuff

Third week on EVS was very active, but also very stressful.

First two day I spent with my coordinator in town to open my visa application, VAR number, bank account and other things that I could work in Crnomelj for one year. There was one problem, my three way contract(with my sending coordinator, receiving coordinator and my sigh) still unfinished. So we decided to skip Dejan and contact his coordinator Barbara Grican and with her and my sending coordinator Tamara Poparic finished this contract for two days and on Friday I had contract in my hands. And finished the job of applying for visa. So I was waiting until beginning of next year.
On Tuesday 19.12.2017. I was in intergeneration house in Metlika. I was participating on workshop, preparing the christmas chocolate. And it's taste was like chocolate with more cacao than milk. But just to now, we don't used a milk in process, we used coconut butter that's malted on boiling water. That's interesting...
Next day I was walking with my mentor Jakov around Crnomelj and seeing all the important things: shops, museum, club... Also we spent some time in former refugee camp. Unfortunately this building was burned. Before that there was refugees from civil wars in Yugoslavia. That kind of sadness comes around.
But just few days after that, on Saturday 23.12.2017. I was in the club with some friends. It was a reggae music band that my coordinator likes, so it's a great time to visiting the club. In general, club like other club. Just without cigarette smoke.
And in the ends very productive week is behind me.

Week 2 - On-arrival Training

From 11th till 15th of December 2017. was organized EVS On-arrival Training in MC Brežice. Well organized place with a park aren't for a first time organized that kind of event. That looks good after shocks that I got in time that I arrived in Črnomelj. Also that's a first time that I had a proper internet connection, so I'm used to tell everybody that I'm fine.
In general On-arrival training is a good platform to inform to all thing that's important during the EVS. The little smaller group that organizers expect was a great chance to everybody to tell why and what expect during the EVS projects. Also it was mentored by good organized trainers and coordinator with experience and willing to get to know us better. The highlights are loot of exercises during every morning, that connects to our EVS projects, video shotting for one personal project and walking outside and speaking with other volunteers.
In general great experience that will try to keep in my mind for longest as I can. Črnomelj, Ljubljana, Sežana, Ajdovščina, Trbovlje, Murska Sobota and Koper, i hope that see you soon!

Week 1 - The new beginning

Friday 08.12.2017. The new beginning starts in Pancevo around 6 AM. After traveling around 8 hours with buses(Pancevo - Belgrade and Belgrade - Novo Mesto) I was in Novo Mesto, the biggest city in south-east part of Slovenia and around 40 minutes away from my new home - Crnomelj. At the bus station my new colleagues in job waits for me to pick me up and travel me to final destination for today. That was my project coordinator Bostjan Matjasic and coordinator of intergeneration house in Crnomelj Andreja Stajdohar. They drove me first to Intergeneration house in Crnomelj(latter Hisa Sadezi Druzbe Crnomelj or HSD Crnomelj). Dejan was waiting for me to introduce my work place and what I need to do. After that I was placed in unfinished flat in the nearest block. That is also their problem, how they don't expect from me and other boy to arrive very soon. So lot things are missing including internet. That my contacts was cut off for a few days. I temp to have some time to meet better my new place and to plan my trip to Brezice next week for On-arrival EVS training.

Saturday 09.12.2017. Outside was snowing. It was better that rain last night. Also Dejan was contact me to make sure that all right for me. But that was last contact between me and his, but if you ask me, that's great news. Also that day I meet my colleague during the project - Ndue Kolaba from Albania. From his contact very interesting contact for a first time. First few days we was together and trying to meet a city of Crnomelj as better as we can. On Sunday 10.12.2017. we was spend time to plan our trip to Brezice. And also to write first e-mail and messages in the local bar, because this bar had wi-fi. The journey continues next day.

Sometimes the beginning are very difficult

Before I start, I want to say that is based on true story and that patience can be one of a keys in this situation.
On September 2017. I was plan my time to go to Crnomelj on 15.11.2017. Only think that I plant is to check visa and that's it. But the problems starts here. I got some kind of basic document that Slovenian embassy in Belgrade didn't accept and returning home to report my try. Also I need to wait a little bit longer, so I will come I little bit late. But their's another problem. My contact person was't serious looking on problems and some of document are late, even I was apply in Crnomelj for visa, I was wait till end of the year. So my project start's on 08.12.2017. not on 15.11.2017.
What is the keys of this situation:
- Patience and believing in project
- Working on some things like the project starts
- My mistake - don't pick up documents from police office in time
- Contact person mistakes - too lazy, not thinking about problems during the project preparations and to often changing some things and dates.
And here are some tips:
- Apply for European Voluntary Corps(European Voluntary Service doesn't exist from 01.01.2018.) long term projects before you be 30 years old, you will be in position to change some things and to pick another project if somethings doesn't go right
- If you have problems like I had, say to thus project goodbye, maybe you can find some other project that suits you and maybe organization thing a little bit of missed opportunities
- But if you really want to work with this organization like I want to do, patience and believing is a keys to project go in right direction.

So my project starts on 08.12.2017. What was happened and what was in front of me...
